Christmas day started off with a visit to someone's home where we watched a few women roll incense sticks. They make about 3000 sticks per day. They also tried to sell us joints and scented oils. Not the most "Christmas-y" start but we had a lovely rest of the day exploring the historic town of Mysore.

It has seemed awfully strange to be in India during this time of the year - hot weather, zero Christmas music on radio/TV and no oven for baking cookies! It has re-focused our sense of Christmas - to really remember the reason for the season - it is not about snow, gifts, and cookies but remembering that God sent his Son to die for us. And while we're in the land of Hindu's and Buddhists, Christ died for all of us and his gift of salvation is available to all who choose Him. We are very grateful to have each other and be able to celebrate Christmas in this exotic and entertaining corner of the world. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! | |
