Svea Louise has arrived!! She was born Thursday, August 18th at 8 pounds 2 ounces, 22 inches long. We are overjoyed with our precious little bundle and can't believe we're finally parents! Svea has captured our hearts and we're forever changed.
For those that like to read birth stories...
I was getting ready for work on Thurs am and was starting to breathe through more intense contractions. I was starting to think it would be really awkward to have to breathe through these contractions during my morning meetings and decided to track a few contractions using my phone app just to see where things were at. After 5 rounds, my phone screen went blank and said "Go to hospital immediately!" In an utter panic I told Bo that my phone was telling us it was time! Contractions were coming every 1-3 minutes... the books had told us to go in once they were at 5 min apart- when did that happen? We drove the bumpy, long 30 min drive to the hospital. I had forgotten how to breathe correctly and by the time we arrived I was near panic from huffing and puffing. The intensity and pressure! I can't even explain it.
Nurse had me labor in tub for an hour when we first arrived and then promptly told us that I was ready to start pushing. I had told my doc that the only thing I didn't want was to do an epidural and have a c-section. But after 5 hours of pushing, doc recommended epidural. Not sure why I was trying to deny it. Sweet bliss once that settled in! After a few more hours, doc informed us that baby may be developing an infection due to a variety of concerns they had and recommended c-section as we were running out of time. I caved and 15 min later, our sweet baby girl made her grand entrance!
Not the birthing plan I was expecting as I never envisioned that a c-section would be the route we'd go, but it is what it is and we're so happy and grateful that Svea arrived healthy!
